KATHMANDU: Both houses of the federal parliament, the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, are scheduled to meet today.
The House of Representatives is set to convene at 11:00 am at Singha Durbar, while the National Assembly meeting is scheduled for 1:15 pm. The agenda for both sessions includes discussions on various bills, annual reports, and question-answer sessions.
During the House of Representatives meeting, ministers will respond to oral and written questions. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam is scheduled to table the eighth annual report of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission, 2026, on behalf of the Prime Minister.
She will also propose sending the Bill to Revive Provisions of Some Nepal Acts, 2083, and the National Defence University Bill, 2083, to the relevant committees for clause-wise discussion.
Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal will move to send the Waste Management Bill, 2083, to the committee.
Similarly, Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi will propose sending a bill related to amending laws concerning her ministry to the committee.
Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta will table proposals to send four bills to the committee, including those related to breast milk substitutes, safe motherhood and reproductive health rights, security of health workers and institutions, and the Ramraja Prasad Singh Academy of Health Sciences.
The House is also scheduled to pass the Bill on Remuneration, Terms of Service and Facilities of Officials of Constitutional Bodies (First Amendment), 2026.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal will present a notice regarding members absent for 10 or more consecutive meetings for approval and will read out letters received from the Office of the President.
The National Assembly meeting will also feature a question-answer session. A proposal will be presented to reach an agreement on the amendments to the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2024, which was returned by the House of Representatives. The National Assembly is also expected to pass the Internal Air Service Liability Bill, 2026.
