KAVREPALANCHOK: The major historical, religious, and tourist sites in the southeastern region of Kavrepalanchok are set to be developed into a ‘Buddha Circuit’ trail.
The federal government has allocated a budget of Rs 250 million for this circuit which will connect the historical town of Panauti, Namobuddha, and Temal, said Madhu Chaulagain, a Member of Parliament (MP) from Kavrepalanchok.
In the first phase, with an expenditure of Rs 100 million, physical and cultural heritage structures related to Lord Buddha will be constructed along the road from Panauti to Namobuddha. Additionally, prayer wheels, Chaityas, and statues of the Laughing Buddha will be installed at various locations, alongside information boards featuring Thangka art.
According to him, the objective is to transform the approximately eight-kilometer Panauti–Namobuddha road into an attractive tourist route, enriched with heritage sites associated with Lord Buddha.
Under the Buddha Circuit project, a Ratuwa deer park will be constructed in the Bokse Community Forest at Dapcha, located along the Namobuddha–Bhakunde road section. Similarly, a Cultural Confluence Gate will be constructed at the Chardobato intersection in Bhakundebesi along the BP Highway.
