KATHMANDU: Acclaimed Nepali author Buddhisagar and director Saurabh Chaudhary have officially announced their upcoming epic action drama, “The Rise of Samrajya.”

The film, to be produced under the Dark Horse Entertainment banner, was unveiled on Monday with the release of its first theme poster.

The poster features blazing flames, horse-mounted characters and royal costumes, hinting at a story set against the backdrop of a historical era or a rebellion. A flying red flag on the left side of the artwork symbolizes revolution or conflict, while a faint image of a Ramlila performance in the background adds an element of mystery to the film’s narrative.

Known for his action-oriented filmmaking and visual style, Chaudhary is set to work on his biggest production to date. Executive producer Shankar Pandey described the project as one of the largest-scale films ever attempted in the Nepali film industry.

“This will be one of the biggest Nepali films ever made in terms of scale, production and overall lineup,” Pandey said.

Filming is scheduled to begin in the first week of Bhadra (late August) and will continue for approximately 70 days across multiple locations in eastern Nepal.

While the production team has finalized its technical crew, the cast has not yet been revealed. The filmmakers said the actors will be announced in the coming days.

Director Chaudhary said the team is not rushing to announce a release date.

“For now, we have only unveiled the title and theme,” he said. “We plan to decide the release date after principal photography is completed and once we have assessed the post-production schedule.”

The film is backed by producers Prabesh Chaudhary and Nila Dev, with Biswas Basnet (Ben) serving as co-producer. Man Krishna Maharjan has been signed as the cinematographer, while Shree Shrestha will choreograph the action sequences.
