KATHMANDU: Butwal-based businessman and social activist Thaneshwor Paudel has donated Rs 2.525 million to support citizens affected by recent floods.

Paudel deposited the funds into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to assist victims across various districts affected by the Bhote Koshi River floods that occurred on Aug. 26.

Paudel, who serves as a volunteer for the Manav Dharma Sewa Samiti in Butwal and as the chairman of Shine Resunga Development Bank, stated that the contribution was made in his personal capacity.

He emphasized that fulfilling one’s civic duty during a national crisis is essential. ‘Providing relief to fellow Nepalis during times of sorrow is the true essence of humanity,’ Paudel said.

He noted that districts including Rasuwa, Dhading, and Nuwakot have faced significant destruction due to the disaster, leading to massive national losses.

Paudel further mentioned that the Shine Resunga Development Bank, under his leadership, had previously contributed Rs 6.5 million to the same government relief fund.
