KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has announced five major decisions following a cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

Briefing the media, Minister for Education and Government Spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel stated that the government has approved a complete 100% exemption on clean infrastructure investment fees and Value Added Tax (VAT) for both imported and domestically manufactured electric ambulances and hearses.

Following a proposal by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the cabinet also decided to officially declare four individuals—Om Prakash Mehta, Jaya Prakash Mehta and Rabindra Kumar Mehta from Sunsari district, alongside Ganesh Kumar Yadav from Siraha district—as martyrs after they lost their lives during recent demonstrations.

Additionally, the cabinet granted approval for the Government of Portugal to open a consular office in Kathmandu, appointed Nirmal Kumar Uprety of Bara district as the Executive Director of the Foreign Employment Board, and decided to publicly release the Ncell Share Purchase-Sale Investigation Report, 2024), which was prepared by a study committee coordinated by former Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma Dangal.
