KATHMANDU: The Nepal Women Chamber has launched the ‘Chamber Bazaar’ at the Nepal Chamber of Commerce building in Jamal, starting Saturday.
The initiative aims to market, promote, and expand the reach of products created by women entrepreneurs and business owners. The bazaar features various stalls, including food items, clothing, handicrafts, and products from Salt Trading Corporation.
During the opening session, Nepal Chamber of Commerce Vice President Urmila Shrestha stated that the bazaar would help connect products from women entrepreneurs directly to consumers. “It is our effort to bring products from women entrepreneurs to consumers,” Shrestha said, adding, “It will also provide support for business expansion alongside production.”
Roshan Bhoyodyo, chairman of the Chamber’s Infrastructure and Land Reform Committee, emphasized the need to expand such fairs, noting that they create opportunities for consumers to easily purchase local and domestic goods while promoting women-led enterprises. Nepal Women Chamber Secretary Ira Prasai highlighted that the objective is not limited to commercial transactions but serves as a campaign for the economic empowerment, skill development, and market access of women entrepreneurs.
Fair coordinator Anita Amatya Shrestha stated that in addition to the sale and promotion of products, activities related to entrepreneurship development will also be conducted. Organizers have also planned orientation programs for women interested in starting or managing businesses, covering government procedures and operational management. Neelam Tamrakar, an advisor to the Nepal Women Chamber, expressed confidence that the fair would provide significant support to the growth of women’s entrepreneurship.
