KATHMANDU: Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank have announced a relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction programme worth around Rs 150 million for communities affected by the devastating floods that hit Rasuwa on Bhadra 10.
The two institutions expressed solidarity with affected families and condolences to those who lost loved ones in the disaster. The programme will be implemented in multiple phases, covering immediate relief, temporary shelter, rehabilitation, reconstruction and long-term community resilience.
According to Chaudhary Group, the first phase will provide affected families with food, essential medicines and health supplies. Relief packages include prepared meals, drinking water, biscuits, clothing, tarpaulins and personal hygiene products. Distribution began on Bhadra 11, with employees from both organisations mobilised at the local level.
In coordination with local authorities, two organised relief camps—one each in Nuwakot and Rasuwa—will be established. The camps will provide daily meals, healthcare and disease-prevention services, along with safe spaces for children, clean drinking water and sanitation facilities.
Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank will operate health camps in partnership with Dhulikhel Hospital, providing first aid, disease prevention and other essential health services.
For families whose homes have been completely destroyed or rendered uninhabitable, the organisations will work with the government and local authorities to construct 500 temporary housing units. The units will be based on proven technology previously used by the Chaudhary Foundation in earthquake relief and rehabilitation programmes.
The longer-term reconstruction programme will support permanent housing and essential community infrastructure. A dedicated centre will also be established in partnership with Dhulikhel Hospital to monitor, prevent and manage infectious diseases that may emerge following floods and other disasters.
Nirvana Chaudhary, chairman of Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank, said the immediate priority was to save lives and provide affected communities with food, shelter and healthcare.
“But our responsibility should not be limited to emergency relief. Through this partnership between Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank, we are committed to supporting the entire journey—from rescue and relief to temporary housing, permanent rehabilitation and stronger public health preparedness,” he said.
The two organisations said they would coordinate with the government, local authorities, security agencies, health workers, community organisations and volunteers to ensure assistance reaches the most severely affected and vulnerable families in a transparent and organised manner.
Chaudhary Group said the programme continues its commitment to stand with Nepalis during national crises and help affected communities build a safer, healthier and more disaster-resilient future.
