KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Ashok Raj Sigdel left for China on Sunday for an official week-long visit, during which he will participate in the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
Sigdel’s visit will run from September 13 to 19. Before his departure, General Sigdel received a traditional Guard of Honour from a contingent of the Nepali Army at Army Headquarters (Jangi Adda).
He was later seen off at Tribhuvan International Airport by Lieutenant General Preeti Jung K.C.
According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information, the high-level military visit is aimed at further strengthening bilateral defence ties and advancing Nepal’s foreign policy objectives through military diplomacy.
During Sigdel’s absence, Lieutenant General Preeti Jung K.C. has assumed the responsibilities of Acting Chief of Army Staff.
