KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has amended the schedule for its regional conventions due to adverse weather conditions.
Raju Katuwal, member secretary of the Central Election Committee, confirmed that the regional conventions will now be held until Sept. 29.
Katuwal stated that three days have been added to the original schedule due to the weather. The delay in completing ward-level conventions in various districts, including Madhesh Province, also contributed to extending the deadline for the House of Representatives regional conventions.
“It has been decided to allocate three days for the regional conventions,” Katuwal said. He added that if the conventions are completed by Sept. 29, there will be no issues in proceeding with the general convention process.
However, he noted that further delays could potentially push the inauguration of the general convention to Oct. 4.
Given that municipal presidents and provincial assembly regional presidents are also convention representatives this time, the party is mandated to complete these sessions.
