BHAKTAPUR: The Bhaktapur District Court has ordered the release of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, rejecting a police request to keep him in custody.

On Monday, the Bhaktapur District Police Office, through the District Government Attorney’s Office, presented Prasai before the court seeking permission to detain him for an additional seven days. However, the court refused to grant the remand and ordered that he not be kept in custody.

Prasai was arrested from his residence on Sunday night by the Bhaktapur District Police Office.

Meanwhile, his wife, Uma Prasai, also filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court on Monday, demanding his release.
