KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML task force for election review and party restructuring is scheduled to meet at 11 a.m. today in Chyasal.
The task force was formed following the party’s poor performance in the elections held on Feb. 21.
According to a party official, the meeting will discuss two separate reports: one prepared by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel based on nationwide consultations with party workers, and another prepared by task force coordinator and Vice-Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’.
A member of the task force stated that General Secretary Pokharel’s report is a collection of suggestions from leaders and cadres. Meanwhile, the report prepared by Thapa is being viewed by some leaders as a rebuttal or a charge sheet. There have been discussions among leaders about passing Pokharel’s report while including Thapa’s submission as a note of dissent.
Once the task force finalizes its report, the CPN-UML plans to call a secretariat meeting. Following the secretariat meeting, the report will be discussed by the central committee, the party stated.
