Crowds gather at LPG depots as supply chain disrupted after full-cylinder rollout

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: Long queues formed at LPG depots in Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal after a temporary disruption in the cooking gas supply chain following the resumption of full-cylinder distribution.

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) said the disruption occurred after distributors began supplying 14.2 kg LPG cylinders from the start of the Nepali month of Shrawan, replacing the earlier distribution of 7.1 kg half-filled cylinders.

NOC spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur said there was no shortage of LPG in the country, claiming imports remain about 10% higher than domestic demand. He said the current problem was caused by adjustments in the distribution system and is expected to be resolved within a week.
