KATHMANDU: Curfew orders will remain in force today in four districts of Madhesh Province after a dispute between two communities in Kaptanganj of Devanganj Rural Municipality, Sunsari, turned violent and its impact spread to several parts of the province.

As the security situation became increasingly sensitive, the District Administration Offices of Siraha, Dhanusha, Parsa and Saptari decided to continue the curfew imposed on the recommendation of the respective District Security Committees.

The violence, which began yesterday in Golbazar of Siraha, has led to incidents of vandalism, arson, looting and clashes at different locations.
According to security sources, one person has died in Madhesh Province so far, while dozens of others have been injured. Among the injured are 22 police personnel, including two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).

To prevent the situation from deteriorating further, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and the Nepali Army have been mobilized on high alert.
Security patrols have been intensified in sensitive areas, and local administrations have urged the public not to leave their homes except for essential purposes.
The district administrations said the security situation is being continuously assessed and indicated that the curfew will remain in place until law and order returns to normal.
Authorities have also requested people not to believe rumors, refrain from spreading misleading content on social media and immediately inform security agencies of any suspicious activities.
