KATHMANDU: According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the bodies of 538 people have been recovered so far across various districts affected by the floods in the Bhote Koshi river.
As of the latest update released at 3:00 PM today, the breakdown of recovered bodies includes 121 in Chitwan, 46 in Gorkha (which also includes various human body parts), 28 in Tanahun, 37 in Nuwakot, 134 in Nawalparasi East, 27 in Nawalparasi West, 33 in Dhading, and 12 in Rasuwa. Authority spokesperson Shanti Mahat reported that 977 individuals remain out of contact following the disaster.
The missing persons include 28 personnel from the Nepal Police, 45 from the Nepali Army, 13 from the Armed Police Force, 15 from the Customs Office, and 4 from the Immigration Office.
Additionally, 161 people from Rasuwa, 1 operator or individual from Nuwakot, 66 from Makwanpur, 517 foreign nationals, and 127 non-resident Nepalis visiting the country are among the missing. The floods have also left 73 people injured, comprising 43 in Rasuwa, 27 in Nuwakot, and 3 in Dhading.
