LALITPUR: Devotees have flocked to the Krishna Temple in Patan, Lalitpur, since early Friday morning. On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami today, large crowds gathered early in the morning to offer prayers and worship.
According to Hindu mythology, the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadra during the Dvapara Yuga is observed as the Krishna Janmashtami festival. The festival is celebrated in the belief that Lord Krishna was born on this exact day.
As mentioned in the scriptures, worship and prayers are being offered at the Krishna Temple in Patan today. Every year on Janmashtami, large crowds of devotees gather at the Krishna Temple. In previous years, however, crowds at the temple were smaller due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Lines of devotees have formed on both the south and north sides for worship at the temple. Separate lines have been arranged for men and women. For the convenience of devotees, the Mangal Tol Improvement Committee has managed healthcare services and drinking water on the temple premises.
Scouts and Lalitpur City Police have been deployed to manage the queues, while Nepal Police is coordinating and facilitating peace, security, and traffic management.
