JANAKPURDHAM: Dhanauji Rural Municipality of Dhanusha district has pledged Rs 2.2 million in assistance for the rescue works, relief distribution and rehabilitation of the people hit hard by the recent devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers.
The rural municipality issued a press statement on Monday, informing that it had decided to deposit Rs 700 thousands from its disaster management fund into the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. The local government also promised to collect Rs 1.5 million from the employees, teachers and people’s representatives as the aid. They would contribute certain amount from their monthly salary.
A press release signed by chairman of the rural municipality, Rajkumar Sah and chief administrative officer Rajkumar Das stated that the decision to provide the relief amount was made in a bid to assist government in managing rescue, relief and rehabilitation works following the disaster.
They expressed tribute to those who lost lives in the disaster and extended condolence to the bereaved families. Wishing speedy recovery to the injured persons, the local government viewed the Bhotekoshi flood is not only the plight of a particular region or community but a common tragedy to entire nation.
