KATHMANDU: Dirgha Rawal has been appointed deputy governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

The Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to appoint Rawal as deputy governor, according to the secretariat of the finance minister.

Rawal was serving as the executive director and head of the Bank and Financial Institutions Supervision Department at NRB. He has spent more than two decades at the central bank, holding various responsibilities during his career.

Originally from Achham, Rawal joined Nepal Rastra Bank on January 16, 2006 (Magh 2, 2062 BS). He has held several key positions at the central bank, including senior responsibilities in the supervision of banks and financial institutions.

His appointment comes as the NRB continues to strengthen its regulatory and supervisory capacity amid evolving challenges in Nepal’s banking and financial sector.
