KATHMANDU: Domestic and international flights are operating regularly despite rainfall across the country since Thursday morning, according to Tribhuvan International Airport officials.
However, four flights from Kathmandu to Lukla have been canceled due to adverse weather conditions.
Devendra Prasad Shrestha, the airport’s chief air traffic controller, stated that 25 domestic flights had successfully departed for various destinations by 12 noon. He noted that increased caution is being exercised for flights to hilly regions, while operations to the Terai remain unaffected.
Shrestha explained that despite a slight increase in rainfall and wind speed, flight operations have not been significantly disrupted, based on data from the Meteorological Forecasting Division and airport technology.
Although the weather office has issued warnings for heavy rain and wind on Friday and Saturday, Shrestha expressed confidence that domestic flights will continue without major issues if current conditions persist.
