KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that attempts are being made to erase the political achievements gained through historical movements and sacrifices.
He made these remarks while addressing the 27th memorial assembly for martyrs Suresh Wagle and Bhimsen Pokharel.
“Reactionary forces are trying to erase the achievements made through movement and sacrifice. At such a time, it is necessary to move forward with new determination and energy, imbibing the dreams and contributions of the martyrs,” Dahal said.
He added that reactionary activities against the federal democratic republic remain a concern, necessitating a firm stand against such tendencies.
During the event, Dahal recalled the contributions of martyrs Suresh Wagle ‘Vasu’ and Bhimsen Pokharel ‘Bairagi’. He noted that their sacrifices provided new energy to the movement against the then state power and played a vital role in elevating the people’s war.
He further remarked that the day Wagle and Pokharel attained martyrdom in Gorkha in 2056 BS remains a significant date for the Nepali revolutionary movement.
