A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: The government has accelerated electrification efforts in areas affected by the Bhotekoshi floods.

The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation launched restoration work immediately after the floods caused power outages in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.

Ministry spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shakya confirmed that power supply has been fully restored across all areas of Nuwakot and Dhading. Electricity services were reinstated in Nuwakot on Sept. 9, while restoration in Dhading was completed even earlier.

In Rasuwa, which sustained the most significant damage, electricity has been restored to 90 percent of the district. According to Shakya, service has resumed in all areas except for Ward 1 of Uttargaya Rural Municipality and Wards 1, 2 and 3 of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality.

In locations where the national grid is not yet functional, the government is providing electricity through institutional and domestic solar systems facilitated by the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre.
