KATHMANDU: Power supply has been fully restored across all areas of Myagdi district affected by floods and landslides that occurred last month.
The Nepal Electricity Authority’s (NEA) Beni and Tatopani distribution centers completed repairs on damaged transmission and distribution lines to resume services.
Beni distribution center chief Satyanarayan Gami confirmed that electricity was restored on Saturday in Paudwar, located in Annapurna Rural Municipality-5, which was among the most severely impacted areas.
The natural disaster damaged 250 utility poles and associated transmission lines, causing an estimated loss of Rs 15 million to the authority.
“We restored power in many areas within two or three days. Our employees and workers remained deployed even during the Dashain festival, working late into the night in areas like Paudwar, Giwang, and Kindu,” Gami said. “We have used alternative structures in some locations and are working to make the supply regular and systematic through further repairs in the second phase.”
In the Ramche and Histan areas of Annapurna Rural Municipality, power is now being supplied from Lekhphant in Jaljala Rural Municipality-5 of Parbat district, replacing the previous connection from Mahabhir.
Additionally, after a transformer transported by helicopter to Paudwar failed to function, power was successfully rerouted from Ghar village.
The Beni distribution center serves 24,490 customers, including those in Parbat’s Jaljala Rural Municipality, while the Tatopani distribution center covers parts of Annapurna Rural Municipality and Mustang. The restoration of electricity has significantly eased daily life in the affected rural communities.
