KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has been appointed as the acting prime minister following Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s departure to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Prime Minister Shah is scheduled to depart for New York, United States, on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to participate in the assembly.
In his absence, the prime minister recommended that Finance Minister Wagle oversee the government’s administrative responsibilities. President Ram Chandra Paudel approved the recommendation and appointed Wagle to the role.
Prime Minister Shah is set to address the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 24. He is scheduled to return to Nepal on Sept. 26.
