Finance Minister Wagle departs for the United States

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle departed for Washington D.C. on Friday evening to lead a Nepali delegation to the United States.

He is visiting at the invitation of World Bank Group President Ajay Banga for a two-day trip.

During his visit, Minister Wagle is scheduled to hold meetings with high-ranking officials from the World Bank, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), as well as leaders from the private sector.

The minister will engage in specific discussions with World Bank and U.S. government representatives regarding the mobilization of additional assistance for the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by the Bhote Koshi River floods on Aug. 26.

Furthermore, he is expected to discuss initiatives to increase investment from development partners and the private sector to create jobs and economic opportunities through key infrastructure projects, including roads and electricity transmission lines.
