KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle departed for Qatar on Saturday evening to attend the 11th annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Governors.
He is leading the Nepali delegation and traveled to Doha via a Qatar Airways flight at 7 p.m.
Joint Secretary Amrit Lamsal, head of the International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division at the Ministry of Finance, is also part of the delegation. During the meeting, Minister Wagle will participate in the Board of Governors session.
The discussions will focus on mobilizing multilateral support and investment for Nepal’s infrastructure development, climate adaptation, renewable energy, post-disaster reconstruction, and economic growth priorities.
During his visit, Minister Wagle is scheduled to hold a meeting with the AIIB president. He will also conduct separate bilateral meetings with the finance ministers of India, Bangladesh, Qatar, and the Maldives. The Nepali delegation is scheduled to return to Nepal on Sept. 30.
