MYAGDI: Police have arrested five individuals from Bara and Parsa on suspicion of stealing jewelry in Myagdi.
The District Police Office said those arrested are Akash Raya of Bara, Lalbabu Raya of Parsa, Pramod Kumar, Sunil Kumar Raya and a minor. All five have been taken into custody for further investigation.
Police Inspector Sagar Timilsina said the suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee toward Arthunge in Beni Municipality-6. The Myagdi District Court has granted permission to keep them in custody for three days while the investigation continues.
According to Timilsina, the suspects allegedly snatched a gold chain belonging to Bhadra Kumari Karki, a local resident who had visited the Jagannath Temple in Gajne, Beni Municipality-5, for worship on Monday. They reportedly fled the area after taking the jewelry.
Police said preliminary investigation has also indicated that the group may have been involved in other theft cases reported in Myagdi.
