KATHMANDU: Several major highways across Nepal remain obstructed due to ongoing floods and landslides.
According to reports from the Nepal Police, transportation services have been significantly affected across the Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, with some sections fully closed and others operating under restricted conditions.
In Bagmati Province, the main highway in Rasuwa is completely blocked due to flooding, with authorities stating it will remain closed until further notice. In Nuwakot, the Tokha-Chhahare road section at Shivapuri Rural Municipality-6 is now closed to traffic nightly from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. due to the risk of landslides and floods.
Additionally, the Pasang Lhamu highway in Bidur Municipality-10 is fully obstructed. Traffic on the Prithvi Highway at Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 in Dhading is currently limited to one-way operation due to a landslide.
In Gandaki Province, the Chame-Besisahar road section in Nasong Rural Municipality-3 of Manang district is completely blocked by landslides.
Similarly, in Karnali Province, the Karnali Corridor at Sarkegad Rural Municipality-6 in Humla remains fully obstructed, according to data from the Department of Roads.
The Department of Roads has urged travelers to exercise extreme caution when traveling through high-risk areas. Officials have advised the public to rely on updates from relevant authorities regarding the status of road openings and closures before planning their travel.
