KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides have disrupted traffic flow across several major highways in Bagmati and Koshi provinces, according to Nepal Police.
The natural disasters have led to complete road closures in some areas, while others are operating under restricted conditions.
In Bagmati Province, the BP Highway has been affected along the Khuk-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section. The main highway in Rasuwa is completely blocked by flooding, with authorities halting all traffic until further notice.
Similarly, the Pasang Lhamu Highway remains fully obstructed in the Simtar area of Bidur Municipality-10, Nuwakot, due to flood damage.
The Tokha-Chhahare road section at Ghattekhola in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-8, Nuwakot, is currently at high risk of further landslides.
To ensure public safety, officials have prohibited vehicle movement on this section between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Meanwhile, the Prithvi Highway is partially affected near Jwalamukhi and Shitalbazar in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10, Dhading, where traffic is currently restricted to a single lane.
In Koshi Province, the Koshi Highway is completely blocked at Neta Bhir in Makalu Rural Municipality-4, Sankhuwasabha, following a landslide.
Police report that ongoing weather conditions are complicating efforts to clear the debris and restore normal traffic movement.
