Floods and landslides disrupt major highways across Nepal

KATHMANDU: Several major highways and road sections across various districts in Nepal remain disrupted due to ongoing floods and landslides.

According to updated data from Nepal Police, all road sections of the main highway in Rasuwa have been completely blocked since the floods on Sept. 26.

In Manang, the road section from Besisahar to Khangsar is currently operating on a single-lane basis following floods that occurred on Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, in Myagdi, the Beni-Jomsom road section is completely obstructed due to landslides at Baisari in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 and Sukebagar in Annapurna Rural Municipality-3.

Traffic movement is also restricted along the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi. At Ghumauri Ghat in Bulingtar Rural Municipality-6, the road has been reduced to a single lane since a landslide on the evening of Sept. 26.

Similarly, at Janti Pahiro in Baudikali Rural Municipality-3, the road has been operating on a single-lane basis since a landslide on the afternoon of Sept. 30. Authorities have reported that large vehicles are currently unable to pass through this section.
