KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have issued a travel advisory detailing widespread highway blockages and nighttime traffic bans across several districts as heavy rainfall continues to disrupt major road networks across the country.

Under the updated security and safety measures, nighttime travel has been restricted on key routes to mitigate risks from floodwaters and landslides.

Travel along the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli is completely suspended every evening from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM until further notice, though daytime traffic remains operational.

Similarly, traffic along the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur district is halted nightly between 5:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

In Nuwakot, all non-essential public and private vehicles are banned from traveling on the Tokha-Chhahare road section overnight from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

Meanwhile, severe weather conditions have caused complete closures on several major national transit corridors.

The Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 remains fully blocked due to heavy mud, with authorities directing commuters toward alternative routes.

In Rasuwa, the Pasang Lhamu Highway section along the Trishuli-Mailung-Syabrubesi dirt road at Khalte, Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, is entirely impassable following riverbed erosion by the Trishuli River.

Additionally, the Bheri Corridor along the Jajarkot-Dolpa road in Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rukum West, remains completely obstructed due to a debris flow of mud and stones at Rijegard Khola.

Authorities urge travelers and transport operators to exercise caution, monitor local updates, and defer non-essential nighttime travel along vulnerable highway stretches until conditions improve.
