KATHMANDU: Heavy rains leading to floods and landslides have obstructed several major highways across Nepal, disrupting transport services in multiple provinces.
The Kanti Lokpath, which connects to the Kathmandu Valley, is completely blocked following a landslide at Takurche in Bagmati Rural Municipality-3 of Lalitpur. Similarly, major highways in Rasuwa remain closed until further notice due to flood damage.
In Gandaki Province, the Besisahar-Khangsar road section in Manang is fully obstructed due to flooding. Transport along the Beni-Jomsom road has also been halted after landslides occurred at Baisari in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 and Sukebagar in Annapurna Rural Municipality-3, both located in Myagdi district.
Meanwhile, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi East has been opened for one-way traffic after landslides at Bulingtar and Baudikali, though large vehicles are still unable to pass.
The situation remains critical in Karnali Province, where the Karnali Corridor and the Simikot-Hilsa road section are completely blocked by landslides.
Transport services are currently suspended across various locations in Kharpunath, Sarkegard, Namkha, and Simikot rural municipalities. Concerned authorities are actively working to clear the debris and restore road connectivity in the affected regions.
