KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides have disrupted several highways across Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, causing significant travel delays.
According to Nepal Police data, all major highways in Rasuwa district have been completely blocked since the floods on Aug. 26. Authorities have stated that these routes will remain closed until further notice.
In other regions, the Beni-Jomsom road section was fully blocked following a landslide at Baisari in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 at 5:50 a.m. on Sept. 26.
Additionally, the Kaligandaki Corridor has been operating only one-way since a landslide occurred at Janti Pahiro in Baudikali Rural Municipality-3 at 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 30. Police reported that the road is currently inaccessible to large vehicles.
Meanwhile, the road section from Besisahar to Khangsar in Manang, which was impacted by floods, has been partially reopened to one-way traffic as of 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 4. Officials are currently coordinating with relevant agencies to clear the blocked highways and restore normal traffic flow. Travelers are advised to check the latest road updates before embarking on their journeys.
