KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Foreign Minister of Australia, Penny Wong, held a telephone conversation on the recent catastrophic flash flood occurred in Nepal today.
The conversation featured the issues of human and physical loss and subsequent intervention of search, rescue, and relief distribution in the flood-hit areas including Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
Minister Wong expressed deep grief on behalf of the Australian government over the tremendous loss of lives and pledged every possible support to Nepal at such hour of tragedy.
In response, Minister Khanal expressed gratitude to the Australian government and the people there for their solidarity and pledge for support. He also thanked the Australian government for the goodwill showed to Nepal at such hour of grief. Khanal also informed the Australian counterpart that Nepal government was making all-out efforts for search of the missing persons, rescue of those trapped ones and relief distribution to the survivors.
