KATHMANDU: Four Australian citizens of Indian origin have gone missing after being caught in a flood in the Bhotekoshi River on August 26.
The four missing individuals lost contact while traveling from Dhunche in Rasuwa toward Mount Manasarovar.
The missing persons have been identified as 51-year-old Sridharan Iyer, 49-year-old Lakshmi Sridharan Iyer, 21-year-old Rudra Sridharan Iyer, and 23-year-old Rishabh Sridharan Iyer.
Ranjit Sridharan, who arrived in Rasuwa from Kerala, India, to search for his relatives, requested assistance in locating his four missing family members.
He shared that the last known mobile location of his missing relatives was tracked to the Royal Himalayan Hotel in Syabrubesi.
“We still have not received any information regarding the four missing family members,” he said. “We are devastated not knowing their whereabouts. We appeal to everyone to help search for them from their respective places.”
Nanda Kumar Koirala, a technician at Nepal Telecom Rasuwa, also requested support from everyone to aid in the search for the missing Indian-origin Australian citizens.
“Relatives of the Iyer family, who went missing after the flood in Rasuwa, have arrived in Rasuwa searching for them,” he said. “We are facilitating the necessary search efforts at the local level.”
