Four years saw 154 casualties in road accidents

MAHENDRANAGAR: In the past four years, 154 people have lost their lives in road accidents that took place in Kanchanpur district.

According to the District Traffic Office, 154 people have lost their lives in road accidents since the fiscal year 2022/23 while 1,784 people were injured.

District Traffic Police Office Chief and Police Inspector Balendra Nath more accidents are happening on the East-West Highway, while many have lost their lives in accidents involving motorcycles and scooters. Most of the accidents occur due to speeding.

According to the statistics of the Office, 43 people died in road accidents in Kanchanpur in the fiscal year 2022/23, 32 in 2023/24 and 38 in 2024/25, according to the traffic police. In addition, 41 people died and 878 were injured in 564 road accidents in the last fiscal year 2025/26.

Likewise, in the last three fiscal years, action has been taken against 35,861 drivers for violating traffic rules, raising revenue worth Rs. 5,914,500 from traffic penalty.
