KATHMANDU: The fourth Tihar Flora Expo 2083 concluded on Saturday at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. Organized by the Nursery Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal, the five-day event, which ran from Nov. 2 to Nov. 6, recorded transactions worth Rs 10 million.
Laxmi Maharjan, the expo coordinator and vice-president of the association, stated that over 35,000 people visited the event. She noted that the turnout met expectations and has boosted the morale of nursery entrepreneurs.
Ramji Prasad Timilsina, president of the association, emphasized that the event aims to make Nepal self-reliant in the production of flowers, fruits, herbs, and agricultural nursery products. He expressed a commitment to organizing such exhibitions regularly in Kathmandu and other provinces to reduce dependence on imports and create self-employment opportunities.
The expo featured a total of 73 stalls, including 63 commercial stalls and official displays from the Department of Plant Resources and the Floriculture Development Center. The exhibition showcased various flowering and decorative plants, fruit saplings, fertilizers, organic and chemical pesticides, seeds, and agricultural tools and technologies. The event was promoted by the Floriculture Development Center and the Department of Plant Resources. The Nursery Entrepreneurs Association regularly hosts two major events annually to promote domestic products: the Tihar-focused flora expo and the National Horticulture Expo held in March.
