KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has criticized Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah’s approach toward the private sector, stating that the head of government lacks a positive perspective on business and the broader economy.

Speaking at a event organized by the Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation on Friday, Thapa argued that while the Prime Minister shows goodwill toward state-owned enterprises like Hetauda Textile and Nepal Pharmaceuticals, he fails to grasp real-world economic dynamics.

Highlighting the economic liberalization led by Girija Prasad Koirala after 1990, Thapa emphasized that a sound economic vision is crucial for post-disaster reconstruction.

Thapa also confirmed that the party’s upcoming General Convention will take place on schedule without confusion, adding that a nationwide campaign across all 77 districts will launch after Dashain to rebuild public trust.
