KATHMANDU: Gen-Z movement leader Rabi Kiran Hamal has welcomed Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s announcement to withdraw the 3% tax on education and healthcare, but urged the government to immediately formalize the decision through legal and constitutional procedures.

Hamal said tax provisions cannot be changed through Facebook posts alone, stressing that a Cabinet decision, parliamentary approval where required, and publication in the Nepal Gazette are necessary to make the rollback legally effective.

He also called for the immediate removal of additional taxes on electricity and ride-sharing services, warning that good governance is measured by institutional decision-making and adherence to the rule of law-not by social media announcements.
