KATHMANDU: The government has launched a key initiative to bring uniformity to application formats across public offices and align service delivery with modern information technology.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has approved the ‘Guidelines on the Format and Implementation of Applications Used in Government Offices, 2026’ and issued directives to public agencies nationwide for its immediate rollout.
The new guidelines eliminate the inconsistencies and confusion stemming from varying application requirements across different offices, establishing a single, standardized format across the country.
Designed to streamline public service delivery, the policy transitions traditional paper-based procedures toward digital platforms to make services more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly.
With full implementation, citizens will no longer face the burden of navigating distinct application styles for different offices.
By making application forms digitally available, the move lays the groundwork for accessing government services via online portals and mobile apps, advancing the vision of a “Digital Nepal.”
Additionally, the standardized system aims to minimize hassle for service seekers while curtailing unauthorized intermediaries and informal service desks operating on government premises for commercial gain.
Heads of respective offices have been assigned primary responsibility for ensuring strict compliance with the guidance.
