KATHMANDU: Government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel informed that the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to provide compensation, relief, and medical treatment arrangements for the families of those who died and for those injured during the protests that took place in Sunsari and Siraha districts.

The government has also appointed Prof. Dr. Khadka Bahadur KC of Parbat as the Chairperson of the University Grants Commission and Prof. Dr. Rojesh Shrestha of Lalitpur as its Secretary.
Similarly, the meeting decided to appoint Gyanendra Mukhiya of Kathmandu as the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board.

In addition, the Cabinet decided to repeal the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee Formation Order, 2054, and approved the merger of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee with Nepal Transit and Warehousing Company Limited. It also decided to implement the Animal Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055 in phases across Nepal and approved the submission of the Children Related (First Amendment) Bill, 2083 to the Federal Parliament.
