KATHMANDU: Ujyaalo Nepal Party chairman Kulman Ghising said the current government has failed to deliver results in line with the mandate of the Gen-Z movement.

In a statement issued to mark the first anniversary of the Gen-Z uprising, Ghising noted that the government, which holds a near two-thirds majority, has failed to gain the expected momentum.

Ghising paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the movement and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He clarified that the Gen-Z movement was not merely about changing the government but represented the voice of a generation seeking better political culture, governance and rule of law.

While acknowledging that the government formed after the movement conducted the House of Representatives election on March 5, bringing politics back into the democratic process, he noted that the core issues raised by the movement remain unresolved. He stated, ‘While there have been some positive efforts in the area of good governance, the original questions raised by the movement remain unchanged.’

According to Ghising, there has been no expected progress in making the constitution, governance system and state structure citizen-friendly, implementing zero tolerance against corruption, and creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Criticizing the government’s working style, he added, ‘Speeches, declarations and political slogans are no longer enough. The change the people are seeking is not just about the individuals in power, but a change in the system and the way things are done.’

The Ujyaalo Nepal Party stated that it will continue to provide oversight, monitoring and constructive pressure on the government’s actions. Furthermore, Ghising emphasized that the sacrifices made during the Gen-Z movement should not be limited to history but should serve as a guiding principle for state operations.
