KATHMANDU: Websites of the Prime Minister’s Office and most government agencies have been down since Thursday night, raising concerns over the cause of the widespread disruption.
The outage has affected websites used to provide important government information and public services. The simultaneous disruption, including the website of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has raised questions about the security and reliability of Nepal’s digital government infrastructure.
The government has not yet issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outage. It remains unclear whether the disruption was caused by a technical failure, server-related problems or a cybersecurity incident.
Government technical teams are reportedly working to restore the affected websites. The Prime Minister’s Office website is currently accessible again, while the status of other government websites is being monitored.
As government websites host citizens’ personal information, administrative data and other sensitive content, prolonged outages could disrupt public services and raise serious concerns about the security and resilience of the country’s digital infrastructure.
