Govt spends Rs 200 billion in first two months of current fiscal year

KATHMANDU: The government has spent around Rs 200 billion in the first two months of the current fiscal year, 2026/27.

According to the Financial Comptroller General Office, the total expenditure of the government has reached Rs 199.83 billion till September 16, 2026, which is 9.41 percent of the annual target.

Nine percent of the budget has been spent from among the allocation for current expenditure. A total of Rs 1,270.58 billion has been allocated towards this heading for the current fiscal year.

Rs 431.10 billion has been allocated under the heading of capital budget/expenditure in the current fiscal year, while the spending under the heading stands at 1.78 percent (Rs 7.66 billion) so far.

The government has spent 16.59 percent towards financial management. Of the total Rs 422.64 billion allocated towards this heading in the fiscal year 2026/27, Rs 70.13 billion has been spent, according to the Office.
