SUDURPASCHIM: Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel reiterated that the government was preparing to establish separate residential schools in all seven provinces for the autistic children.
At a programme in Dhangadhi on Saturday, Minister Pokharel shared that the government has also allocated budget for the announcement, adding that discussions were on-going on the modality of the schools.
The programme was organized to hold discussions on running academic programme for children with autism and neuro-diversity.
He mentioned that studies, therapies and other creative activities will be run by keeping students and parents together.
Minister Pokharel shared that a detail project report will be prepared and the process for its implementation will be initiated from this year.
Likewise, Minister Pokharel said that the government was serious to resolve the challenges of autistic children and their parents, and this issue will be incorporated in upcoming laws, bylaws and guidelines of the education sector.
On the occasion, House of Representatives (HoR) Member Sarita Mahato said that the autistic children should be tutored based on their interests and added that she has been piling pressure on the government to prioritize this issue as a mother of an autistic child.
