KATHMANDU: Heavy rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and hail, are expected across various regions of Nepal due to the influence of a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall is likely in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in some parts of the Terai in Koshi Province.
Currently, the hilly and mountainous regions, along with the Terai areas of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, are experiencing generally cloudy conditions.
Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is already occurring in parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
During the day, moderate rain and snowfall are expected in the mountainous and hilly regions, while thunderstorms and lightning are forecast for several Terai locations across Madhesh, Koshi, Sudurpashchim, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
At night, similar conditions are expected to continue in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
The department has specifically warned of potential heavy rain in parts of the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi Province.
Temperatures are expected to drop slightly across the country. The department has advised the public, particularly those involved in agricultural activities, to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and exercise necessary precautions.
