Kathmandu, Sept 4: There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Bhotekoshi flood affected zone this afternoon, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Meteorologist at the Department Binu Maharjan said that there are chances of heavy rain in the hilly region of Rasuwa, the district hard-hit by the Bhotekoshi flash flood, this afternoon and of moderate rainfall in the rest of the flood affected areas.
“Moderate rainfall is occurring in various parts of the country. In the last six hours, the highest rainfall—34 millimeters—was recorded at the weather station in Anarmani Birta, Jhapa,” she said.
The Department has stated that the country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon low-pressure trough positioned near its average location. At present, the weather is generally cloudy across the country, and light rain is occurring at one or two places in Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
According to the Department, the weather across the country will remain generally cloudy this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in some places in the mountainous region and many places in the hilly region.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in many places across the Tarai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, some places in the Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and a few places in Madhesh Province. The department has also stated that gusty winds may occur in some places in the Tarai region of Lumbini Province.
There is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces; in the hilly regions of the country; and in the Tarai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Generally cloudy conditions will prevail across the country tonight as well. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, along with snowfall, in some places across the mountainous and hilly regions.
The Department has also stated that light to moderate rain is likely in a few places in the Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in one or two locations in Madhesh Province.
