KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds continue to influence weather conditions across Nepal, with the monsoon trough remaining close to its normal position, according to the Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The country is expected to remain generally cloudy today, while light to moderate rainfall is being reported in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The division has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in several hilly areas. Similar conditions are likely in some parts of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. A few areas of the Terai in Koshi and Madhes provinces may also receive moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning.
Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Some parts of the Terai in Koshi and Madhes provinces may experience strong winds.
Tonight, the mountainous and hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy. The Terai areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces will also remain mostly cloudy, while the rest of the Terai is likely to see partly cloudy conditions.
Some mountainous areas may receive moderate to heavy rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning. Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is also possible in some hilly areas.
Similarly, some parts of the Terai in Koshi and Lumbini provinces, as well as areas of Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces, are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
