KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the country is currently under the influence of both a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds.
Due to these systems, the weather is generally cloudy across all parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces, as well as the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Sudurpashchim. The Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, and Sudurpashchim are experiencing partial cloud cover.
Currently, light to moderate rainfall with lightning is occurring in parts of Gandaki and Lumbini, and at a few locations in Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
The department forecasts that the hilly and mountainous regions will remain generally cloudy throughout the day. The Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki will see general cloud cover, while other Terai areas will remain partially cloudy.
Moderate rain with lightning is expected in a few mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, while light rain and snowfall are possible in one or two mountainous spots in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim.
In the hilly regions, moderate rain with lightning is expected in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki. Meanwhile, light rain, lightning, and hail are possible in a few hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim. Moderate rainfall is also expected in a few locations across the Terai of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, and at one or two spots in the Terai of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim. Notably, heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy across Koshi province and the remaining hilly and mountainous regions, with partial cloud cover in the Terai. Moderate rain and snowfall with lightning are likely in one or two mountainous spots in Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim. Furthermore, light rain and snowfall are expected in a few hilly areas, while moderate rain with lightning is forecast for a few locations in the Terai of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
