KATHMANDU: Nepal is experiencing widespread cloudy skies and scattered precipitation due to the combined influence of monsoonal currents and a partial western wind system, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported on Saturday.
Meteorologists warned that heavy rainfall is likely in isolated hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces today, while light to moderate showers continue to affect multiple regions across the country.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the monsoon trough currently remains south of its average position, maintaining generally cloudy conditions nationwide.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning is expected across several high-altitude, hilly, and Terai locations throughout the afternoon.
The atmospheric instability will persist into the night, bringing continued cloudy skies and scattered light-to-moderate rainfall with lightning across Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Authorities advise residents in vulnerable hilly zones to stay alert for potential landslips and localized flash flooding.
