KATHMANDU: The country is currently experiencing the effects of nationwide monsoon winds, with the monsoon low-pressure line positioned near its average location in the east and shifting further north closer to Nepal in the west.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, skies will remain generally cloudy across the country today, bringing light to moderate rain and thunderstorms to many hilly areas and some Terai locations, alongside potential snowfall in select high-altitude mountain regions.
Heavy rainfall is specifically likely at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while gusty winds are expected in parts of the Koshi Terai and Madhesh provinces.
Moving into tonight, the rainy and cloudy conditions will persist across hilly and mountainous areas, accompanied by thunder and lightning, while moderate rainfall is forecasted for a few areas in the Terai region across most provinces, with lower chances expected in Madhesh province.
