KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently influencing weather patterns across the country, with the low-pressure trough positioned near its average location in the east and slightly north of its normal position closer to Nepal in the west, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The weather remains generally cloudy nationwide today. Light to moderate rain is currently occurring at a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as isolated areas in Koshi, Madhesh, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at many places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, along with several locations in Koshi and Bagmati.
Similarly, moderate rainfall is likely across many plain areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim, as well as parts of Madhesh, Koshi, and Bagmati provinces.
Meteorologists have warned of heavy rainfall in isolated hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim, as well as the plains of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.
One or two places in the Terai region of Lumbini Province may experience very heavy rainfall. Generally cloudy conditions will persist across the country tonight.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning—along with snowfall in high-altitude areas—is predicted for parts of the mountainous regions.
Moderate rainfall is also expected in select plain areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Sudurpashchim, and Madhesh provinces.
